Trust

Last night I met a stranger
in the usual place, because
it would be a rare day indeed
if I ever invited a stranger to
our home.

The sun was still quite blinding
even though it was seven ‘O’ clock
so rare to see both beauty and fire.

I asked her to check what I offered
she politely refused because
even though she didn’t know me
she believed what I’d had to say.
I chose to follow her lead and
didn’t open the envelope either.

We live a simple life here on
our small island where
there is still a lot of
something called
trust.

I sold another laptop last night around 7pm.  I don’t like having strangers to my house (because coming from a former big city with a lot of nasty crime) I usually arrange to meet them in the car park at a pretty close drive through Tim Horton’s.  They can see the laptop up and running on the battery and they know it goes online or, I wouldn’t be selling it.
The girl I met last night bought her husband/boyfriend and I usually start it all up and let them see it up and running and check it over. Last night she said she didn’t need to see it all running because she trusted me. I in turn returned that trust by not opening the envelope with the cash in it.
Such is our life still here that people are basically very honest. I knew she’d be over the moon with what she’d bought for what I’d charged and had told her so when we chatted on the phone. She must’ve thought so too, because they added an extra $10 bucks.
I was very happy and, I am guessing so were they.

The truth shall set you Free

Sometimes truth is elusive
we convince ourselves something
is right for us when, it isn’t
right for us at all

but
we hold on even though our
hearts ache from the weight
of repeating the same mistake.

Letting go of love
is the hardest lesson
I’ve learned.

The winding path
between alternate realities
is never simple
but the views are spectacular
if God lights the way
and
you really believe
the truth shall set you free.

The Road to Now

Feelings sink or swim on
emotional roller coaster rides
which rise and fall behind
comforts painted veil.

Sharing secrets with the moon
in coldest gasps of clear nights
in winter reprieve
I sing the song of my heart
to twinkling, silver stars
trying to be close to you
in wishes, prayer
Anything, to take me
‘there’ and never have to
leave.

Trust isn’t always a given
and, isn’t with-holding truth
the same as a lie
as a lie, as a lie.

Always,
so many hills and valleys
to be traveled
The deepest depths of sadness
the highest heights of joy
unique for each and every
one of us on the
road to now.

Karma

Cold winds snap at ankles
also fraying mood

Where now?
is there to go from here

As elusive as the truth has been
to heart-filled eyes.

Who now?
will fall when you mark your
calling across their lives with
each shadow of passing time.

Karma has a way of dealing
its own brand of fairness and
we must remain compassionate.

When now?
do we look to the one who
should be blamed for being
taken the fool.

Smoke & Mirrors

Although we see with our eyes
often we refuse to see that which
doesn’t please
But mirrors never lie
no, mirrors never lie.

A heart of glass
shattered from the resonance
of silence
created a thousand pieces
message in each shape
crystal clear
yes crystal clear
and, each piece cuts as clean.

A soul reached through a
fog of smoke and mirrors
to touch another who
wasn’t in the same place
and
sometimes trust has to fly
yes, trust has to fly on, with
broken wings.

Not too sure I did this right, the prompt was about repetition with words or lines.
Hope it fits the prompt. It isn’t about any person or any one thing in particular, just some jumbled thoughts.
