Paper Planes

As we’ll both be using laptops I bought a wireless printer for upstairs instead of traipsing down to the rec room to use the old dinosaur with tower in the basement but, it didn’t tell me on the box we would need to be as fit as Olympians to catch each piece of flying paper.

I managed to get a really great bargain of a laptop for Chloe. She def needs one for school work now. We both used to use tower computers which are set up in the rec room in the basement but, since I got a laptop and am wireless, I can sit on the couch in the living room. I knew Chloe needed a much more modern one too so, managed to get a laptop that is a couple of years old and upgraded it all. She’s away right now but I just know she’ll be over the moon when she sees it. I would have to do my work, copy it to a CD then go and turn on my old tower to use the printer.
I love this wireless printer. Got it yesterday and set it all up upstairs but got such a shock when I was testing it and it shot the paper out half way across the room…. talk about needing to be a good catcher… LOL
I thought afterwards…I wonder if it’s because it is a Can(n)on?

Timmy 2011

He waits, impatient
turning circles or, pacing
as I’m preparing it
smacks his lips after the feast
of fresh boiled chicken and kibble
(very delicate tummy, you see)
and, hunger satisfied

I want him to digest
so lift him up to his blanket
(bad back, mustn’t jump at all)
on the couch where he sits for
a minute or two
then, in slow motion quietly
slinks himself in alongside of me
to snuggle up for a cuddle.

Petting him a while so he
knows the touch of love
I then focus on three things.

One is my own
always something to do on it
keeping me busy
another two that I bought
being worked on, cleaned, upgraded
formatted, re-programmed, updated
and, hopefully both sold today.

Someone once said
‘Find what you love to do and
you’ll never work a day in your life’

Along with first love
computers are my buzz
my some thing

Along with his delicate tummy, he has several calcified discs in a couple of areas of his spine. He’s not supposed to jump up or down at all. Very difficult to stop a pet from jumping though. But, the vet told me she’s seen dogs with his condition fine and running around happy one minute and, something in their spine ‘pop’s and they are then paralyzed for life. So, I try to barricade the couches with books and cushions to make sure he can’t jump up but, it’s a lot easier said than done if someone arrives unexpectedly. He’s up and running and jumps off the couch before I can grab a hold of him. But, if he can’t sit by me, he cries…. Bless him.
Love my little dog Timmy to bits 🙂

It isn’t work at all
if you love what you do.

Apart from words
gadgets are my thing
I love taking them apart
putting them back together again
and hopefully still,
they sing.

They call the board a mother
because (I suppose) she does
all the work, knows everything
and nothing is possible
without her being in attendance.

It needs cards for this and
cards for that and cards to
make it reach out and touch
the world.

Some have been so addicted
they’ve left here close to tears
because they had to leave it behind
and would miss their Bingo or
other games they play.

Some addicted to sex
(Rolls eyes)
Hard drive so full of adult porn
no wonder it caught all the
social diseases going and hence
couldn’t perform.

Some freak at the sight of
the blue screen of death
(used to freak me out too)

Some are dead as door nails
I get such a kick out of
raising them from the grave
then, seeing the big cheesy grin
on the faces as I hand them
their baby all back up and
running again.

Sometimes I’ve spent all
night long on a conundrum
trying to solve a problem
of how or what or why
and when I do
I could jump for joy at
the beating of the puzzle.

it isn’t work at all
when you love what  it is that you do.

My computer knowledge is all self taught.
A few years ago, as a challenge to myself, I bought an empty computer casing, bought all the parts I needed and built my own computer from that empty box.
With nearly everyone wanting access to information on the go, soon (I think) desktop computers will be history, laptops, tablets and cell phones are taking over and I’m now getting more and more into wanting to work with laptops. I can replace hardware, hard drive, ram, DVD/CD drives and such, but, want to learn a whole lot more about their internal workings.
I find it all absolutely fascinating.

Once I had a computer belonging to a friend’s 17 y/o grandson.  He’d put a dreadful porn picture as his desktop wallpaper but his comp was filled with so many different bad viruses so, I couldn’t remove the picture at all because the machine wouldn’t let me do too much with it and he didn’t want it formatted. Each time Chloe (then aged about 11) walked by, I had to cover it with the largest book I had so that she wouldn’t see the screen. After working on it for a few hours and hiding the screen dozens of times, she herself realised I was hiding it because it was porn.   I finally got rid of a lot of the viruses and then was able to delete the picture.
Boys will be boys….lol His comp was always breaking down.  LOL
