Charis Weston

Charis Weston, by Edward Weston 1937

Not what some might call
a beauty at all
but she is woman and
(by default)
therefore, is.

No mistaking her feminine
even in that garb
but it was too cool for nudes
on the beach this day
so, he shot her with his camera
boots ‘n’ all.

*Photography of Edward Weston Apparently, she herself didn’t consider herself a beauty. Edward met and married Charis (pronounced Karris) when she was just 16 and he was 45. She was photographed by him many times over their 11 year marriage, both dressed and in fine art nudes. She died in 2009 aged 95
