Star Child

StarChild1Child of the stars
reaching for the light
darling of the Gods
eyes so big, so bright.

Don’t settle for the Earth
nor sorry tales of woe
onward….ever onward
you must strive to reach
your goals.

Naked you arrived with
the gift of forward sight.
You know you own the future
it is yours by right.

What stories you could tell
if never taught to speak
using thought to communicate
history that you keep inside
your mind.

You find such fascination in all
that you survey and yet you
are the miracle in your own
fantastic way.

Universal life is yours from
your given day of birth
but you must learn your value
seek to find your worth.

Eat from the tree of knowledge
grow strong in the name of love
For love is power…
Love is might.
Purest energy of all
the light of love.

Child of the stars
the Gods blessed you this day
and gave you all the light
you need, to help you on
your way.

  1. Babies are a delight and more so when they grow up. Hopefully they manage to overcome, come what may! Nicely Bren!

  2. Beautiful thoughts and words. New life is beautiful in its innocence and hopefully that innocence will discover love and live by it.

    Anna :o]

  3. A picture of innocence and perfection….an all too fleeting time to be missed out on . I find it so sad that many mothers must work and miss out on so many wonderful moments. I suppose if it is a question of food on the table or not…there is no choice!

  4. I am with Grace on really liking the last stanza, Bren! I am hopeful we all get the light we need along the way. Lovely thoughts in this poem.

  5. I love this, Bren..so tenderly powerful. I kept thinking of my new granddaughter, Mira while I read it…and wishing all that for her. It IS her right!

  6. So lovely…I tend to believe we are all star children. Do we ever really belong? Very nice rhyme and meter (although these are not my strengths to comment upon.

  7. Ahh this is nice…gosh I love this verse it’s so true…

“You find such fascination in all
that you survey and yet you
are the miracle in your own
    fantastic way.”

if only we could keep that initial fascination…such a precious gift. Lovely! 🙂

  8. The rhythm here is strong – why is it that we learn to stop looking at the world with wonder, and then teach our children to do the same?

  9. Makes me so sad to think “learning to speak” partly limits understanding and in-sight! Is this a story you know of living in the stars? Nonetheless, this is a fine Baby greeting poem carrying good prayer.

  10. What stories you could tell
    if never taught to speak
    using thought to communicate
history that you keep…love that bit…and what comes next as well..i love how babies delight in everything…kids too…and dont always realize they are the delight as well….came away with several big smiles on this one bren…

  11. Great flow and rhyme too, look at you. Yeah all the world is ahead, lots of hope with hopefully little dread. All we can want until things begin to haunt.

  12. I heard about the star child … a child that is born into this world, but doesn’t belong … ever …
