Spirit of Wolves

Dance with me for
I can hear their
call.

Dance with me before
dawn arrives and steals
this magic from the
evening sky.

Dance with me in the
campfires glow to the howl of
wolves as they watch
us from the safety of
their lair.

Dance with me.

Sway as those majestic beasts
who know only the call of
the wild watch us and feel
the love in my heart for
their love of those
wild ways.

I’ve shared the fire in
their eyes and respect those
secrets of the ancients
buried in the rich soil
of our kindred
souls.

Dance with me the dance
of wolves as it
should be.

Wild…

Untamed

and, free.

Dance with me to the
beat of distant
drums.
Feel the passion
there.

Dance with me
and the
Spirit of Wolves.

Dance with me
if you dare.

  1. Bren, this is incredibly beautiful, and I am so touched that you wrote this for me and Pup. Thank you, my friend. I especially love the lines everyone else has noted: the fire in their eyes and the ancient secrets of the old ways…..just lovely. How wonderful to come online this morning after being away and find this precious offering.

  2. This is beautiful! Sherry will love it…
This tone is lyrical and makes one want to dance…
    What a spirited dance ;D

  3. I will dare … any time … have seen them close up when fighting for our baby calves … and not hesitated to give them a bullet … I know they where trying to feed their own, but so was I … there is nothing romantic about a dying wolf/ coyote but there is nothing romantic about a dying calf either … I have tears for both … and plenty … Love, cat.

I love the echo of ancient goodness planted in this portion…such an enjoyable read, Bren!

  5. Yes, wild, untamed and free. We cannot make them other that what they are, can only appreciate and learn and respect the fire in their eyes!

is my fav stanza…there is acient magic in that…smiles….and i would def dance…no need to ever turn down an invitation like that…smiles…

  7. Who would not except this invitation to dance, this DARE to dance? Your repetition works seductively here as the beat speeds up and you come closer and closer and take on the wild spirit of the wolves in the night.
