Defending Defiance

We must be as we want to
not as others would wish us.

Dare to be different.

We must live with our conscience
and not with consensus.

Dare to be different.

You can dress for convention
or as a rebel re-actionary.

Dare to be different.

You must live how you want too
conforming only if you choose.

Dare to be different.

If you don’t want to
live as the rest do.

Dare to be different.

Introducing the

Deliciously decandent
decidedly demur.

Disarmingly daunting
delightfuly dissident.

Dramaticaly decorus

Dazzling devil-may-care.

Dashing daring

Bold but Caring

Queen of Swords was a TV series created along the lines of Zorro after the huge success of the movie staring Antonio Banderas the twist being that, the hero is a woman. Set in California in the early 1800’s. They only made one season of this (probably because it was so silly) but, I saw a few and enjoyed actress  Tessie Santiago in the sword/fighting scenes.

I have never conformed to what much of society thinks I ought to live or be and, applaud those others who refuse too.

  1. I loved what I read because it made me think and it was different interesting. I liked the title, the concept, the opposite D thing and the end. You rocked it… completely. 🙂

  2. Dare to be different is a powerful assertion. It brings individuality to the fore. Your ‘D’ series is the icing on the cake, a special one!

  3. My view entirely. But – as my mother would have said – What would the neighbours think? 😀

Did you mean deliciously decadent? An n crept in to reinforce the point!

  4. Absolutely!! And in my trying to be different or learn who this self is I’m probably more like than unlike anybody else in any given moment but I do what feels authentic to me and don’t fall into stereotypical ruts…if I can help it! 🙂 Great write…empowering, Bren!

  5. Thanks for the encouragement of dare to be you message, written in your lovely style that I enjoy reading.

  6. I especially like:

“We must live with our conscience
    and not with consensus.”

I will have to remember that!

  7. nice..i like the dare to be different…for some though it si only superficial…they make themselves look different but they are not really…just like the rest of us…and we are crabs in a pot…when one tries to climb out we pull them back in…smiles….

  8. After the 5 musts, I skied on the “d”s to the “bold but caring” Queen of Swords, thinking that this description applies to many of the super women and men I know! Some of your double Ds oppose each other and in each case I prefer the bolder side: “decidedly demur” and “dramatically decorous” come to mind. But the world is a chaos and you are implying the disguises/costumes which protect heroes from social scorn and dis-empowerment. I like “defending defiance.”
