Life is
the long and winding road.
Sands of time
ever moving
shift once again
offering new direction.
Untied hair blows with
the winds of change.
Just the slightest breeze
but enough to tease those
tresses from their
sleepless rest.
She vowed a thousand kisses deep
to keep passion’s flow alive within
the core of her being
in the living stream.
A hand reaches
to brush a cheek
….tenderly
with love.
Smiles cover the sting with a
soothing balm of unspoken knowing.
A sea of sky
stretched arms out wide
before my eyes
as if Heaven’s awake to my needs
there is no sacrifice to
high a price for love
and,
if you want to be a hero
you have to live your dreams.

heroism and courage. two of my favorite themes.
love the Leonard Cohen reference!
Plenty to think about in your delightful piece.
Live your dreams. Yes! Yes!
To live my dreams.. its easy to say but alas, not to live.. I fight on looking for that day.. dreams I find are ageless.
I’m inclined to agree with Pat Hatt, but I did find your poem a real joy to read: very accomplished and the language beautiful.
Lovely! I especially liked this line: “Just the slightest breeze
but enough to tease those
tresses from their
sleepless rest.”
Woop Woop!!!! Love that last line…..I wish I could be more of a hero…I am only a herotomost…lol. Great writing, beautiful stuff.
I think the mark of good writing and meaningful words comes from your readers…good writing conveys different ideas to different minds. Your readers have picked what caught their eye…
I fell in love with
“Smiles cover the sting with a
soothing balm of unspoken knowing.”
If you want to be a hero, you have to live your dreams…great piece!
Wow, if you want to be a hero, you have to live your dreams. So much to think about here. At least, if you live your dreams, you will be a hero to yourself; and that is the most important thing. (And the second most important thing would be to be a hero to the one loved……….) Lovely sentiments, Bren.

Smiles cover the sting with a soothing balm unspoken knowing! I love that line.
It’s beautifully worded and positive. I enjoyed reading it.
“if you want to be a hero
you have to live your dreams”
That’s it, truly the punch-line, no two ways about it. Live your dreams and achieve wonders. Great thoughts, Bren!

I agree in every way, but the reality is sometimes it just isn’t possible, as you have to live and to do so you need to work at some crap arse job..haha
Those last two lines are a lesson we should all learn. Wonderful!!
Rolled like the waves evermoving to the shore.. enjoyed
It certainly is… “Sands of time / ever moving / shift once again / offering new direction.”
Your thoughts roll very smoothly, I enjoy that very much.
