Honour
(to me)
is has always been
agreeing to disagree
respectfully.
Honour
(to me)
is not wanting to fight
and force my beliefs on anyone
who doesn’t share the same view.
Honour
(to me)
is honesty, trust and being
truthful in all things.
Honour
(to me)
is being kind, compassionate, caring
of everyone because, we all have hearts
that ache from callous words or deeds.
Honour
(to me)
was in serving my country
appreciating all who have served
and, fallen. Those who still serve
to protect our freedom to have a
point of view and not have to fight
for the right to express it.
Freedom is not free.
It has to be fought for and won by those
with the courage to make it happen.
Honour
(to me)
walks hand in hand, side by side
with faith, hope and love.
Always.

We greatly agree about honor. Lovely.

Beautiful and particularly evocative on this Memorial Day.
=)
You really lay out such a valuable resource of what the word honour really means, Bren, and thank you for all that you’ve done and still do to make a difference.
ah i would most certainly agree, though i would say that honour is sacrificed as often as the rest of them you know…good stuff bren
Hi dreamer, I totally agree with your sentiments in this one, a really great look at honor and a great tribute to vets, I did a stint in the navy myself so truly appreciate it and thanks to you and all others for their service as well.
(to me) made the poem (to me)
Amen! I completely concur. Well done.
What struck me, apart from the depth of your poem, was your english spelling of honour and all that it means.
Lovely! I couldn’t agree more.
Amen!
Freedom is not free … oh, boy, Bren … you got that right … but I’d rather live in freedom that is not free (I work hard for my money) than captivity. Love you, always, cat.
I like the way your poem describes the many aspects of honor. Very nice poem!
Yeah that is so true, many who think they have honor are full of poo.
LOVE this, especially the last five lines. Beautiful, kiddo!
Thank you for your contribution to Poetry for Wounded Warriors.
I like especially the last two stanzas! Faith, hope, love, and honor – they definitely each have an important place in a person’s life.
