Being Human

Image: River Irwell by R.A.D. Stainforth

(like people)
are shallow
you can see right through them
no matter how they play
their make believe.

(like people)
are deep
you will never quite fathom
all of what they are
no matter how hard you try.

Rivers are beautiful
but can also be so deadly

A bit like being human.

  1. What a fabulous comparative piece you crafted here. I love how the imagination flows over the influence of image. Nicely done.

  2. Rivers like humans fight back too! We give due respect to both, that’s inevitable. Great write Bren!

  3. nice…we come as rivers in all shapes and sizes….with either you have to be careful how you play in them or with them…and the right ones might whisk you away…grins…

  4. That is very true, although there are some that are deep and shallow at the same time, those ones you want to really watch out for.

  5. so good! that’s just this river…it has had the detritus of a teaming city thrown in it’s water yet…eventually reaches a place of peace at the sea. Thankyou!

  6. Every human is a bit like river … some are only a trickle at times… some are full blown rivers … I am thinking of my patients on psych … each one is so precious to me … for so many reasons … raging rivers … softy bubbling streams … a mere trickle … I don’t care … find your starting point and grow …
