Some
(like people)
are shallow
you can see right through them
no matter how they play
their make believe.
Some
(like people)
are deep
you will never quite fathom
all of what they are
no matter how hard you try.
Rivers are beautiful
but can also be so deadly
A bit like being human.

What a fabulous comparative piece you crafted here. I love how the imagination flows over the influence of image. Nicely done.
Excellent consideration of the reality , D squaredToo
Rivers like humans fight back too! We give due respect to both, that’s inevitable. Great write Bren!

Wonderful comparison…
Nicely done!
Came here from your link at the Poets United Poetry Pantry…
Well done! I liked this very much.
=)
I can relate to your extended analogy. It too ripples the surface whilst running deep. Well done.
So true. Well said!
Oh this was very good!
So so so so so very good!
Well expressed. Humans and nature are alike 🙂
nice…we come as rivers in all shapes and sizes….with either you have to be careful how you play in them or with them…and the right ones might whisk you away…grins…
so true – amazing how humans echo nature.
That is very true, although there are some that are deep and shallow at the same time, those ones you want to really watch out for.
so good! that’s just this river…it has had the detritus of a teaming city thrown in it’s water yet…eventually reaches a place of peace at the sea. Thankyou!
So true. We can compare ourselves with a river’s flow. Nice write. Enjoyed.
nice post, so true about those humans
hmm, true.and so is life.kudos.
Such true words……..
Oh, I do love this!!
It’s sad but a true statement “rivers can be deadly, beautiful and so can human beings”. Hurts my soul to to accept these fact. Brava on this and Blessings

i like the simile you have established
do you watch “being human”?
the river
Oh this poem resonates so much with me. I love the comparison of rivers and humans………..perfect!
Every human is a bit like river … some are only a trickle at times… some are full blown rivers … I am thinking of my patients on psych … each one is so precious to me … for so many reasons … raging rivers … softy bubbling streams … a mere trickle … I don’t care … find your starting point and grow …
