Love Knots

I have a little shadow
her name’s Serenity
she follows me everywhere
she is a shadow
you see.

Some would call her
conscience
I call her Angel
(guardian of my soul)
she hears my hearts symphony
Its tunes of hope and glory
or,
its sorry tales of woe
from accepting reality.

‘Not that way, this way’
she’ll say, if I stray
too far from true
and,
sometimes not getting what we want
is exactly what we need.

There are invisible patterns
love knots
which tie and bind
to ensure we never wander
too far from those paths
of our cosmic voyage
thus, fulfilling destiny

So it is written
So shall it be.

  1. this feels like you’re in touch with the magical, as if you are cataloguing an awakening. I so like how you pose such ideas in our minds

  2. LOVE that you went in the direction of guardian angel, confirmation for me personally and the idea that this angel keeps us from straying too far from God’s intended path! LOVE it!!

  3. I like the idea of these knots and the way our angel keeps us from going too much astray. I like the style and tone of your poem, too. It is so smooth and melodic.
    Best, M.

  4. This poem has that sound of assurance and trust that is necessary to be on all trails of spiritual diacovery. These guides who moves us through life and give us the right detours to take, the correct roads to ride down, are always well heeded. I can tell the many times that I did not and wish I had! Your poem is lovely because of its tone of celebration of that reality. The following lines meant a lot to me:

    There are invisible patterns
    love knots
    which tie and bind
    to ensure we never wander
    too far from those paths
    of our cosmic voyage
    thus, fulfilling destiny

  5. I like the uniqueness of this :)Despite our wondering/wandering…some things do remain set in stone..the guidance being on, lovely work!🙂

  6. Despite your form, this poem is very reminiscent of Emily Dickinson, especially in the opening stanzas. You have shared a very meaningful philosophy with us here.

  7. Beautifully expressed! I don’t know what I’d call it; but I think most people DO have an idea of the rightness of their path and have an inner compass of some kind to keep them on it. They may deviate for a time (even quite a while..turbulent teens?), but right themselves with time!

  8. Very nice. Love the opening two lines, just one of those, oh how cool moments, really liked that. The idea of knots I’ve always found deeply symbolic and really like the way you’ve used them here. Very nicely done. Thanks

  9. This poem is the very best of all the wonderful poems I’ve read so far today. It has all the essential markings of a truly great poem. It captures one’s interest, carries us along, has a touch of Divine truth without being condescending and a strong finish. Well done!

  10. Love this….I have a little shadow
    her name’s Serenity
    she follows me everywhere
    she is a shadow
    you see.

    Great write.

  11. i like her better as a shadow than a cricket you know…jimmeny doesnt know when to quit…ha…and perhaps i should just listen to mine a bit more….

  12. Yes not getting what we want or being able to stray too far from our path is sometimes what we need, sometimes it isn’t though and so the path will change. Like it or lump it..haha

  13. it’s as if the shadow were your twin flame, or perhaps a twin flame stuck in someone’s shadow, that would be very sad!!

  14. i like the idea of love knots….sometimes not getting what we want
is exactly what we need… think you’re right…even though i hate to hear it in those moments…ugh…see…there’s this old rebel still alive…smiles
