String

Today’s sun shines
I rise
quickly forgetting
all the ‘what if’s’
left in sleeps canyons
but no matter what
I will never see through
anything other than
rainbow eyes.

If I could have just one wish
I’ll share it in
whispers on the wind
Blown as kisses to carry
on thermals into the space
of future dreams

As the day thaws
I’ll walk the quiet shores
and there
(maybe)
start that string of new
beginnings.

  1. There’s so much hope and joy in your words. The poem pulls together the wonder you feel for life rising from dream into reality. The following intrigued me, given the reference to silence and the solace it brings:

    As the day thaws
    I’ll walk the quiet shores
    and there
    (maybe)
    start that string of new
    beginnings.

Silence indeed can bring to birth beginnings worthy of reality.

  2. Bren, I love the rainbow eyes…but this..quickly forgetting
    all the ‘what if’s’
left in sleeps canyons……captured me heart.

        1. thanks for pouring out and telling me all that stuff. it hurts me too, all day. and i go to the animal shelter and pull out dogs, and leave so many…but anyway, at least sign the petitions that are going around. they work. i put a lot up on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/tammy.gordin so if you “like” me, you can keep track of lots of petitions and sign them. they really do work. and i have other things on that site too.

  3. Lovely – and what a great gift, to be able to see the world through rainbow eyes in spite of all the “what if’s” one encounters.

  4. oh i love the rainbow eyes… so different to the grey glasses i sometimes look at the world… also loved.

    forgetting
    all the ‘what if’s’
left in sleeps canyons.. that’s the way to live life…for sure

  5. Is there any pot of gold behind those rainbow eyes?..haha…new beginnings will come, whether or not we like them who knows.

  6. Beautiful, Bren. I like the idea of “rainbow eyes.” They would be a true gift and would definitely be helpful when one was ready to “start that string of new
    beginnings.”
