Building Bridges

Walk with me where building bridges never ends
along with Paradise in this wheel of
kaleidoscopic dreams.

I’ve traveled near and far
tried to keep love more pure
than any rage could ever do
and there are no shadows
on empty river beds
nor unclear footprints left behind
to fear what lies ahead.

Memories to keep will fold
between pages of a
life that has been worn.

I cannot touch the sadness
where bridges lead into mist
but
will share the falling petals
from the Lotus of my heart
if you join me on the journey
where soft love allows
Heaven’s story to be seen.

  1. This truly touched my heart.”the sadness where bridges turn into mist”…that line takes me to memories of lost love and heartache.Wonderful.

  2. This song brings joy in its evocation of horizons past and present and future. The hope and joy that sustain us in hard times, though not spoken to directly in the poem, radiates from the core of you words. I found the following lines especially enjoyable:

    and there are no shadows
    on empty river beds
    nor unclear footprints left behind
    to fear what lies ahead.

The fears that future selves hold cannot overcome this abiding hope you hold.

  3. That last verse is like a warm hand to share as we cross over the bridge..what a beautiful piece..magical and yet ‘rooted’..the pink in the sky shouted out like ‘the Lotus of your heart’..Jae – thanks for the warm welcome home – am plucking up the courage to look at your previous post..that snake is mighty big..shudder..😉

  4. A tender & beautiful piece…I chose this picture, too for it’s beauty and colour.. just love your last stanza…

  5. Your poetry has a flow that I can very much relate to. While reading, I realized how similar your prose about love and lost is similar to my own way of expressing. Simple and elegant. Defining ambiguities. Finding beauty in the words. Longing.

    Beautiful post
    Walter

  6. The shadow under the bridge also captivated me. Really strong ending, “if you join me on the journey / where soft love allows / Heaven’s story to be seen.” The poem had a light, but sad feeling of remembrance to it.

  7. You made it wide open, Daydreamer! ‘tried to keep love more pure than any rage could ever do’ says it all.

Opportunities to make good always there, just up to us! Beautiful verse!

    Hank

  8. soft love allows
    Heaven’s story to be seen.

I so want to see Heaven’s story. Love is the answer – you are right.

  9. some really lovely touches….the falling petals from the lotus of my heart…kaleidiscope dreams….and great close where heaves story can be seen…like the fresh take on bridges built…i think a few of us are burning them today…ha
