Parting the Shadows

A harpist plucks Heavenly strings
sending ripples through
earthly vibration

These are sweet, sweet melodies
floating just above the
sound of silence
or,
is it that she knows?

Her gentle breath
reaches
raises hair on skin
causing butterflies to
take to flight

Yes

she knows her notes
are parting the shadows
whispering softly
to the loneliness in my soul

“Touch your heart, I’m there”

then I too
…know .

  1. This poem is very touching. Sometimes we are touched by gentle mysteries that we know in our hearts are true.

  2. I love these words…so wonderfully said:

    “she knows her notes
    are parting the shadows
    whispering softly
to the loneliness in my soul

    “Touch your heart, I’m there”

    then I too
    …know .”

  3. The poem was melodic itself and I especially saw a beautiful image in “Her gentle breath / reaches / raises hair on skin / causing butterflies to / take to flight”

  4. Music can surely heal and sooth, or letting one get into the groove. Yours pulls the heart strings, just don’t pluck too many..haha

  5. Really nice images painted here, the harpist kicked it off wonderfully and your endings have always been good, but have been amazing lately. Thanks.

  6. Gorgeous words, they caress one’s soul! I love the sentiment~ You took a lyrical tone with string…love it~

  7. I think I heard a harp playing as I read it. I feel my angels too. When everyone left at the same time the year of my empty nest, I remarked that I missed knowing their angels were here. Made it doubly empty. But I have mine and it stays close and warns me when I think I should be rash.
