Breath of Life

A door opens
(or, does it close)
Curtains sway upon an
ice-cold breeze
teasing thoughts to
see-through lace
lightening flashes and
thunder crashes
or, was that heart’s
beating out of time.

Love has its own vibration
the deeper we fall the
higher we go
its flames reflect upon
the living stream
with tears and sighs to
heal its hurts
and hold us close
in its sea
without the drowning.

A tender kiss to forehead
smiling eyes
re-light the dying embers
and lines without hope
suddenly surprise us
with a new
breath of life.

  1. Life is beautiful, regardless … it’s all good … you know, the pic and poem reminds me of John Lennon’s “Imagine” video … remember, when Yoko is opening the window coverings one by one, and the roo gets brighter and brighter … in the end she goes over and quietly sits at the piano with John … so moving. Thanks, Bren. Love, cat.

  2. I deeply appreciate the hopeful tone, I needed to hear it. It struck me that I try to control outcomes when I need to simply be open. Thank you.

  3. A breathe of life sure doesn’t cause strife, as it keeping the cat going, just as the cat keeps you coffee flowing..haha

  4. that middle stanza bren is truly fascinating…love has its own vibration…how true…and the last stanza brings us to a tender close…

  5. oh yes, beautiful…love always breathes new life…I’d forgotten how it felt. It feels like this… 🙂

  6. Love has its own vibration….for sure…and no matter if the doors are opening or will always bring a fresh breeze into the the surprise with the breath of life there..
