Cocooned

Sand slips through time’s slimline waist
and life’s all about taking chances.

Pale rays of dawn usher in
new potential but I resist
Speak in hushed tones
leaving stillness undisturbed
but golden light will not await
and soon begins to dissipate
the darkness.

Cocooned…
reluctant to leave this bubble
of lucid dreaming
I drift into
meditative gratitude’s

Heavy lumber
carried yesterday is
a floating wreck I can hold onto
to stop myself from drowning.

Breathing in blessings
Breathing out woes

So, I let you go
ease myself from
this sleeps most
tender arms
and thus,
the day begins.

  2. love the hour clock image in the opening and the cocooning –easing ourselves from sleeps most tender arms– oh i hate it…but yes, life’s about taking chances…so we do…smiles…enjoyed it..

  3. Lucid dreaming is a gift that has helped me through many a night..held me safe..sometimes the brain has to supply itself with an internal hug..I love the sense of cocooning you have created..kept safe for later when the external day is done..Jae 😉

Oh my, how lovely and yet heartbreaking is that?

  5. This was a really thought provoking poem….its about life, time, being at peace with our thoughts….
always a pleasure reading your words…
my world has been going ok…thanks for your comment… 🙂

  6. Love the imagery … I, often, don’t want to leave the cocoon either — but in order to fly, must! Something to work on on a daily basis.

Congratulations on your well deserved award!!

  7. nice…i think i would not mind sticking around that cocoon a bit in a meditation of gratitude..lovely verse bren

  8. I do that all the time: Letting go, while demanding my own freedom, then returning to love again … the cycle is endless and just what it is … a cycle. Love you, my friend. Blessed be. Always, cat.

  9. All that sand slipping would give the cat a good litter box at least..lol…and no matter the winds the day must begin.

I love this, and the breathing. We must (try to)let go of the yesterdays, that’s for sure. Great piece.
