Step light upon the petals as they fall
lest you crush their hope into
the dark of nothingness.
Other realms of endless light
send invitations through
sweet fragrances of sights
(as yet)
unseen.
Past echoes ring forth in
depths of crystal clarity
as buds anticipate
the struggle ahead that awaits
before their birth.

The bravery of buds– so true. Nice write.
This poem has such gentle beauty! Love it!
always good to remember that birth – no matter what kind – always comes with pain…but then…it’s all the more beautiful..thanks for this
Step light upon the petals as they fall…love this line. Your poem of a flower without speaking the word. Perhaps an actual flower or the anticipation of one’s dream about to bloom. Beautiful poem.
What I like most about how you handled this topic, is that you did not need to use the word ‘flower’ but rather implied it through its parts: petals, fragrance and bud. I think your response to the challenge is excellent – I love the interplay of light and dark.
The cat tried to step light but he has two left feet and crushed the poor petals, think they’ll still sing?..haha A nice soothing verse!
I really enjoyed this poem. Thank you.
lest you crush their hope
Oh, that is a lovely thought!
I agree with MZ. I also love that first line. It sings.
What a wonderful comparison!
Beautifully done. The images are lovely; I was especially struck by “invitations through sweet fragrances…”
Lovely lines ~ I like struggle before the birth
I really love that first line. Beautiful!
So beautifully written, Bren.
