Hell

A muted sun shone in prismatic beams
refracting on the mist here and there with
excruciating colours

(how had he never noticed them before?)

The boat was so close and yet

…so far.

Was the tide coming in
or was it going out?
Maybe he would never know as
the sand about him shifted
with collective shudder.

He’d thought all of his
money had put him on the
shores of Heaven
but now…

Now he’d give it all
for legs to crawl and
arms and hands with
which to lift him up.

He strangled another sob
lest it sink him
deeper into this

His own private beach and
now a bought and paid for

Hell.

This picture from Magpie Tales seemed to speak to me about all of the ‘Occupy’ this and that.

There’s No Place Like Home

Heart thumping in rapid thump, thump, thump pulsations, she closed her eyes picturing as she did spacious fields all about the little wood cabin. The elements must’ve read her thoughts as time itself seemed to spasm in rare fits and starts about her. Having already lost him once she tightened her grip on the dog then tapped the heels of her ruby glass slippers together and wished three times aloud. Soon she and the dog were weightless… tumbling round and around ’til finally the spinning ceased, the magic spell had been released. Where had she been?…. It had all been a dream or….was it? Maybe it would always remain an enigma.

As most of you will know this of course the 1939 movie <a href=”The Wizard of Oz based on the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
Starring the then 16 year old actress Judy Garland

Funny how things seem to suddenly spring to mind from seeing the wordle words. This came to me from the words glass, weightless and tumbling and even more of a coincidence it was on one of our TV channels last night and, that sealed it for me.
