Unfolding

In that softness of silence
weight of day shifts
like a sheet lifted by
invisible hands
and, for a moment
floats on air
suspended there in time.

In the still point of
the present
daylight recedes.
Windows close their eyes
to the world outside and
candlelight beckons ego to
succumb to its mesmerising
flame.

I used to look upon darkness in fear
but whispers of the heart know
the welcome alliance of
peace now which comes
inside of night’s gentle
unfolding.

  1. darkness, silence, there is a mystery to this, also acceptance.I love the pic as well! 🙂

  2. I love the image and your words are beautiful. I like “whispers of the heart”. I use to fear the dark as a child but with age those thing disappear.

  3. Beautiful words! I just loved the concept in the ending–that there is nothing to fear in darkness. But the whole poem had such a nice flow to it and lightness.

  4. Darling Bre,
I hope this works. This poem is just beautiful and so you. Much love, A,

  5. This is beautiful. I like ‘Windows close their eyes
to the world outside…’ Lovely imagery.

  6. You have such a wonderful and soothing way about you and your writing. It’s shines beautifully in this piece, and is a vibe that makes every visit an awesome one. Absolutely adore your first stanza!

  7. first, very cool pic choice…

i too used to fear the darkness but find that it and light often go hand in hand and enbracing both found much freedom…

  8. Not evne those things that go bump in the night can scare you. Do you make them turn blue? Are you just so nice they go away? Or so scary they avoid you with dismay?..hahahaha
