The Walking Dead

The world turns
(as it always has)
earth and sky in harmony
yet each new spin of the wheel
ushers in more chaos.

7 billion souls
all with a hunger to feed
whatever their source
of sustenence.

There’s many a revolution
in this age of Aquarius
People’s voices
all vying to be heard
above a noise of the dying
one way or another.

The Mayan forecast this will
be the last age and
humans have become the
worst parasite
Mother earth has known.

Maybe we are already
the walking dead and
we just don’t know it.

Once more I’m honoured
Deeply touched by this award
Thank you very much.

I would love to nominate everyone, but can only nominate one and that is:
Sherry Blue Sky

Sometimes the news is just so grim, on a global scale (beats the Brothers Grimm tales hands down)
and I like the TV series: ‘The Walking Dead’

My thoughts just ran away with themselves on this.

  1. humans have become the
    worst parasite
Mother earth has known….yes…think that’s a sad truth..and just thankful that mother earth keeps on turning and doesn’t turn away from us..nicely penned for sure

  2. Great write, great read. I love the thoughts you inspire with the ideas/imagery you present, none stronger than the finale. Great job, thanks.

  3. Grim forecast of the future.. I wish it was not true but we only have to look around to see where we are heading into ~

  4. That is very lovely award.

We had forgotten about 12-12-12 until last night in the car. I think the Earth can support more billions, but not our disrespect.

I hope for the best, tho! Maybe it will all turn out better than we fear.

  5. I hope this is not the case, but in some way, from nature’s perspective, it might be a good thing. Or maybe we will awaken to that around us.

Beautiful refection on the issue and beautifully written!

  6. Thought-provoking… my daughter just finished a book (YA fiction) that had parasites in it. I would rather not know. = )

  7. See the cat always said you humans are parasites like my fleas. Glad to know I was right…haha

So true we could very well be the walking dead, wouldn’t be that far of a leap as we are quite the pain to mother nature. All the mayan world ending crap is bull though.

  8. Stunning and sobering poem. Depicts the chaotic clamor of need. The final lines are perfect. And thank you so much for the nomination. My goodness! 🙂

  9. sobering…parasite is a good descriptor…intense piece filled with hard truth…it will be interesting over the next year to see if there is much fervor as we march toward that date…
