Evolution

Sand slips through the hourglass
its dust bequeaths an unsettled sigh
falling specks of fate
build a dune of shifting dreams.

There is no sense in nonsense.

Who am I?
In the mirror I turned
and turned again
not knowing
As petals fall soft to calm
somewhere within.

Life spirals
twists and spins
the summer flower
has run to seed
along its strands
unfolding who I am
with no respect at all
to the evolution.

  1. enigmatic, philosophical, a different type of work from you…I LOVE it 🙂 and that has not changed!

  2. I loved the whole thing but this…’Life spirals
    twists and spins
    the summer flower
    has run to seed
    along its strands
    unfolding who I am
    with no respect at all
    to the evolution.’

    is certainly the clincher!

  3. Oh the mirror can cast a reflection that lets one give themselves a detection, but the cat just wants to attack it, I guess it makes him have a fit..haha great verse.

  4. life gives us that twist and turns hey, the up and down timeline, beautiful poetry…

  5. Our gradual evolutionary biology from a simple to a more complex form has been making a pattern of our movements, to maneuver each one of us through the maze of life, till like the Summer flowers, we finally go to seed!!
    “falling specks of fate
build a dune of shifting dreams.”
In my opinion is a good line and inevitably happens!! I think necessarily so!!
I am awed at the cleverness of your thoughts!!

  6. What a glorious write this is. The “dune of shifting dreams”……”unfolding who I am with no respect at all for the evolution.” Wow. Terrific writing!
