Vanishing Point

Incandescent light
shines upon the waiting.
Shape shifting shadows dance
across my mood too, from a
spectacular moon, relentless
in wishing to follow me
in the drifting.

If the sky should fall
…remember
those realms of light
where we promised
to love eternally
and the pools of wonder
reflected in our eyes
which believed it never ends.

Through trial and tribulation
we flew high

High enough to touch the sky
take our breath away
and never ask the reason
why heart’s that love
without rhyme or reason
ever have to reach the
vanishing point.

  1. High enough to touch the sky

    why heart’s that love

    vanishing point.

    so cool lines, well done.

  2. I have to admit, lol, I kept going back to this line “Shape shifting shadows dance across my mood” hmmm love how it plays on my tongue 🙂 YES I do tend to read poems out loud lol

  3. I love your soft and life-affirming poetry. You do it in such a way that makes me slow down and take a deep-cleansing breath. thank you 🙂

  4. Hello.
Even through the trials & tribulations of life, for me being the romantic that I am, it’s better to have loved than not loved at all.

    Beautiful, poignant write.
    Awesome image!

    Thanks for sharing & visiting.

  5. A touching, lovely poem. I’m not the only hopeless romantic round here it seems…*smiles* …a beautiful flow to this.

  6. First the photo caught my breath as the moon’s been hiding behind rain clouds for a few nights here on the coast of Maine, and then the words of your poem
with the final phrases hitting home in a crescendo.

    Love this…thank you.

  7. “Shape shifting shadows dance
    across my mood too,”

Great line, and oh so sad for love to reach the vanishing point 😦

  8. Trials and tribulations… flying high… the vanishing point… each line opens up the view a little more. Fulfilling, sad, true.

  9. A $6 mil question! Why should love vanish. If it had gone on nicely only the momentum is all that’s needed why just evaporate. Emotions and events are difficult to compromise eventually! Must be!

  10. Very good piece, love the sentiment and your finale is a question that deserved asking. Really enjoyed the read, thanks

  11. hey ayala has been trying to comment and can’t can you drop her an email or your email so that she can send you…

she asked i drop you the request…

  12. Such a touching piece, delicate in execution, that addresses a point of connection deep within us all – the heart. It is always a pity to find that vanishing point…there is nothing so tragic and so moving, and the almost dream-like quality of your piece moves with that well…but that we may ever know love at all…so sweet a thing.

  13. so sad when love dies after flying so high…it takes much respect, patience and hard work to not falling from that sky.. if flying could only be more easy…heartfelt and sad piece here..

  14. This poem took my breath away, describing the kind of love one dreams about, and then comes the vanishing point. I hear that love never dies. One has to believe that. Loved this poem.

  15. i think it isan important question to ask so you never have to experience it…this is a felt piece, and some scary place to be when it does happen…nice piece…

  16. Well I don’t know about without rhyme, you have to have that some of the time, but without reason is fine, there is alot of that in mine..haha…now I will vanish away, magically as I’ve had my say.
