Footsteps in the Frost

A bridge of thought
spans panoramic skies
where paths go beyond
the black and white of time.

All through night in dream’s reality
the longing stirs

Fountains play a rhapsody
Music in waterfalls which
harmonize the hunger
but it’s there, wrapped inside
the protected ache within
this sleeping sanctuary.

There is no denying
the coming home of
dark to light.

A chill wind greets
Autumn’s insipid grey-blue
without you
words are all I have
footsteps in the frost
my only friend.

This poem has a sense of longing & sadness to it, made more poignant by the last stanza.
