Eventually daybreak awoke with a yawn
sun, too lazy yet to push
cloud cover off
and shine.
It would be a dull day.
And, one of those days when
you too, refuse to shine.
What a rare mood to find
tucked away amidst the grey
but, within the blink of an eye
(diva on center-stage)
she entered the race, chased
the moon and its gown of clouds away
to take her throne in the sky.

A lovely poem, really. The ending makes me appreciate the beauty of the evening sky.
Loved the drama brought in slowly and powerfully!
What fun to read a piece like this. Something to humanize even the everyday events of this world.
What a lovely blend of nature imagery and complex moods. I enjoyed it very much.
a definite diva (that made me smile) but she deserves that title and wears it well – just breath taking
O. lovely, elegant. you have the personification down pat.
I love the way you got your head round this!
A dramatic late entry onto center stage!! Loved it!! 🙂
Very nicely done. The first two stanzas could stand alone if you wanted it to, but you threw in the third, what a bonus for the reader. Really enjoyed, thanks, love chased the moon and its gown of clouds away- wonderful line.
I love the imagery of the sun in this piece.truly lovely
a verse that presages a lovely morning– thanks!
Your imagery is wonderfully ethereal and yet the ideas and feelings grounded..if that makes sense..a cloud blanket would be nice..Jae
