Kiss the Rain

Autumn’s leaves changing
leaves me
feeling restless.

I’ll miss the summer’s warmth.

They’re dying on the ground
and soon I’ll be surrounded.

Each one, reminds.

Other’s dance by my window
I watch the rains arrive

it’s pitter-patter, splatter
soft, upon my thoughts of yesterday.

Were they yesterdays or, so
long ago it sometimes seems
like forever now.
If I die young, remember
we’re here for really
just a moment in time.

Rain always soothes the ache
I can’t describe

I’ll try to harmonise
let the peaceful
sounds caress

better yet…

It can wash thought clean of pain
I’ll go outside and

Kiss the blessed Rain.

If I have nowhere in particular to go, I’ve always loved walking in a gentle rain. Soft rain, warm rain.
Water of any type anywhere that I can see, hear or watch its movement, has always been like a soothing balm to me.

  1. It took me a moment…a long moment really…to get into this lovely piece of work.

    Because I live in Arizona.

And it so rarely rains that I sometimes forget the quiet and peaceful beautiful and solace of rain on a windowpane, on an umbrella, on my head.

    Gorgeous visualization.

    Loved this.

  2. You would have no shortage of rain here in Washington, Bren, but certainly your words make it sound as glorious as a sunny day…we’ve had few this year. I love how your words flow and give imagery to your surroundings. Beautiful!

  3. ..Rain always soothes the ache…i know what you mean…i feel the same..maybe it has something to do with washing away, smoothing out…lovely write

  4. I enjoyed what you did with this. I always think of the rain kissing us…but like how you’ve reversed the image.

  5. I love this because it’s so full of real emotion. I feel like I’m sitting across from you talking over coffee. It’s so hot here, I’ll be glad for cooler days.

  6. Great poem!…no tears yeah!!!! …and I too already miss summer and it hasn’t even left yet! Oh no!

  7. I also loved your poem the way rain can refresh us, give us a cleansed new beginning~ It was beautiful and full of much thought! I love Fall rain~ Wonderful! Thank you for your kind words; I so appreciate your kindness xXx

  8. WOW!
I love the fresh fall of rain and how it washes everythign brand new and clean.
Such a wonderful reminder that all is washed and we are only here a very short time.
Beautifully written love the direction you took this prompt.

  9. Beautiful Poem, I love the fall. I used to love to walk in the rain too, but it’s been a long time, now it seems that I only go out when I have someplace to go.

  10. What a lovely poem, although rain lately has been causing me (us) more pain than gain! I used to love hearing the pitter patter of rain drops until the drenching we’ve gotten lately, joined by hail, and heavy winds….now I’ll have to read your delightful poem again, after saying all this! Have a great weekend !

  11. At least autumn isn’t as bad as snow, that stuff hits a new low.

But as you kiss the rain, just make sure it isn’t acid, that might burn..haha
